Gett’s, a major player on the local luxury hairstyle salon market, maintains its development set before the crisis and will open, by year-end, a SPA complex on 2,600 square meters, part of the Incity Residences project near Bucharest Mall and a further salon in the future Mall of the Cotroceni Park, the company’s Marketing Manager, Aura Jacqueline Enciu, told Business Standard.

However, the depreciation of the national currency against the euro had the strongest negative impact on the Gett’s business.

“In 2009, in our field, the first impact was the depreciation of the national currency, which meant a 20 percent drop in euro revenues of both people and, naturally, companies in November 2008-February 2009. As a chain reaction, habits changed suddenly, people did not spend as before, due to both fear and lack, and the decline increased by a further 20-25 percent. If we add the explosion of interest rates on loans, which in our case amounted to 30 percent in lei, you can imagine the estimates for 2009,” Enciu told Business Standard.
